Public art projects are managed by Metro Arts staff following a process outlined in the Public Art Guidelines. Artworks may be purchased or commissioned using the one or a combination of recruitment and selection methods approved by the Arts Commission. For commissioned artworks, it typically takes 2-3 years from project inception to installation of a site-specific artwork. The community-informed process results in a permanent artwork for the city's collection for all to enjoy. The process can be briefly outlined in ten steps, though the steps and order vary from project to project.
Learn more about public art projects coming to North Nashville--Arthur Avenue, Looby Community Center, and Bordeaux Gateway--and to the east side of the county at the Old Hickory Community Center. Projects for Strobel House (Permanent Supportive Housing) and Nashville Youth Campus for Empowerment will be added soon.
